Paradigm HYPE Unstaking: 2.55M Tokens in the 7-Day Queue. Sale or Wallet Shuffle? — Published by Buildix, a crypto orderflow analytics platform with real-time VPIN, CVD and whale tracking on the 100 most liquid Hyperliquid pairs.

Paradigm unstaked about 2.55 million HYPE, worth roughly $224 million, across 15 wallets over two days, according to TokenPost. That is 17.85% of the roughly 14.26 million HYPE the firm had staked on HyperCore. The onchain analyst MLM, cited by ChainCatcher via KuCoin News, expects a wallet consolidation rather than a sale.

The Paradigm HYPE unstaking lands in a busy week for HYPE supply: a team distribution is scheduled for November 6, buybacks are running, and HYPE slipped below $85 on November 3. For anyone trading HYPE on orderflow, the question is not whether $224 million could be sold. It is which onchain signal will say so first, and how much of the move the book has already priced.

What the Paradigm HYPE Unstaking Actually Starts

Unstaking on Hyperliquid is not an instant withdrawal. Transfers from a staking account to a spot account go through a 7-day unstaking queue, and each address can hold at most 5 pending withdrawals, according to the Hyperliquid staking docs. Delegations to a validator carry a separate 1-day lockup.

The per-address cap is one practical reason a large holder spreads a big unbond across many wallets, so 15 addresses on its own does not point to distribution. What the queue does create is a dated window. With the unstaking reported over the two days before November 2, the tokens become movable roughly a week later, which puts the decision point around November 8 to 9, a few days after the team distribution.

Unstaking also does not equal selling. As AMBCrypto pointed out, tokens that stay in wallets have limited immediate impact. Transfers to exchanges are the signal that would change the picture.

The Consolidation Precedent and the July Counterexample

MLM's read rests on Paradigm's own history. The firm ran a similar large unbonding several weeks earlier, moved the tokens into new wallets and staked them again, per KuCoin News and TokenPost. If the pattern repeats, the 2.55 million HYPE will reappear as stake under new addresses and never touch an order book.

July shows the other path. Multicoin Capital, Selini Capital and Galaxy Digital queued nearly $150 million of HYPE for withdrawal, and a Multicoin-linked wallet deposited about 167,000 HYPE, around $11.2 million, to Coinbase, Cointelegraph reported. HYPE fell about 8% to around $58 that day. Multicoin's Tushar Jain said the unstaked HYPE "was not intended for selling," and the outcome was still open when the piece ran.

The useful number from July is the ratio. That queue was nearly double HYPE's daily spot turnover at the time: Block Liquidity recorded $72.8 million of spot volume over about 28 hours, against roughly $400 million of daily perp trading, per Cointelegraph. Spot books absorb supply far more slowly than perp volume suggests, which is why exchange deposits matter more than queue headlines.

HYPE Orderflow While the Tokens Sit in the Queue

The derivatives tape so far looks like caution, not a rush to front-run a sale. AMBCrypto reported mild selling on CVD, with more than 450,000 HYPE sold on Binance's perpetual futures market, while open interest fell as price fell. Falling price with falling OI usually means longs closing rather than new shorts piling in.

CoinGlass data cited by crypto.news on November 3 fits that read. HYPE traded at $83.53, down 2.37% on the day, in a $82.54 to $86.86 range. Futures volume rose 38.76% to $2.64 billion while open interest dropped 3.50% to $3.66 billion, and the OI-weighted funding rate sat at a modest +0.0080%, so longs were still paying shorts. Then the CFTC equity perps statement lifted HYPE to a local high above $87.40, per U.Today.

The risk sits under price. CoinMarketCap data cited by 24/7 Wall St. showed $612 million of margined longs below the market against $411 million of shorts above it. Some of that has already started to clear: three HYPE long positions were liquidated for about $6.12 million combined in a single 24-hour window, according to a TradingBeats-based report on KuCoin News.

Buybacks and the Team Distribution Against the Queue

On the other side of the ledger, Hyperliquid is expected to receive more than $15 million in November from Circle's AQAv2 reserve yield framework, after a similar USDC amount in October went to buybacks, and the protocol collected more than $87 million in October, per AMBCrypto. AMBCrypto estimates that revenue and USDC yield together cover about half of Paradigm's unstaked position. The mechanics of that bid are covered in the HYPE buyback November breakdown.

The November 6 team distribution is reported at about 180,000 HYPE, though crypto.news notes that published vesting schedules show larger theoretical allocations and the real amount is unconfirmed. In October, Hyperliquid Labs unstaked 3.75 million HYPE tied to a private deal valued near $330 million. The HYPE unlock November 6 analysis explains why past claims have run far below the headline.

Put together, the supply that can actually hit a book this week is the team claim plus anything Paradigm chooses to deposit after the queue clears. The buyback absorbs part of it at most, and only if it runs at October's pace.

What to Watch Before the Queue Clears

First, the destination. Fresh wallets that restake within a day of the queue ending confirm MLM's consolidation thesis. A deposit to Coinbase, Binance or an OTC desk address, even a small one like Multicoin's in July, is the tell that matters.

Second, spot CVD against perp OI. Persistent negative spot CVD while perp open interest climbs is the pattern of supply being distributed while someone hedges on perps. The current tape, falling OI with mild CVD selling, is the opposite.

Third, the levels the book is built around. AMBCrypto marks $80 as the last lower high and the 0.786 Fibonacci retracement, with $75 as the support that would weaken the bullish case if lost. The October 25 low of $76, per 24/7 Wall St., sits just above it.

On Buildix, the HYPE pair page shows CVD, order book imbalance and whale activity side by side, and the whale tracker follows large wallets as they move, so a Paradigm deposit would show up in the flow before it shows up in the candle.

A 7-day queue is the rare supply event with a published countdown. The first transfer after it ends will answer the question that the unstaking itself cannot.
