HYPE Unlock November 6: 9.92M Tokens on Paper, and the Claim That Actually Moves

HYPE Unlock November 6: 9.92M Tokens on Paper, and the Claim That Actually Moves — Published by Buildix, a crypto orderflow analytics platform with real-time VPIN, CVD and whale tracking on the 100 most liquid Hyperliquid pairs.

Core contributors are scheduled to receive 9.92 million HYPE on November 6, 2026, ad-hoc-news reported on October 25, citing CoinCentral. At the $75.47 price crypto.news logged the same day, that is roughly $748 million of HYPE on paper. The November HYPE unlock number is real, but the track record says it is a ceiling, not a sell order, and the tell for how much actually moves shows up on chain about a week before the date.

That gap between the vesting calendar and the tokens that actually change hands is where traders keep mispricing this event.

Where the 9.92 Million HYPE Unlock Figure Comes From

The math is mechanical. The Hyperliquid whitepaper describes 24-month linear vesting for the 238 million token Core Contributor allocation, which works out to 9,916,666 HYPE per month, Tokenomist explained in April. FinanceFeeds puts that allocation at 23.8% of the 1 billion max supply, vesting from the November 2024 genesis.

Tokenomist also notes Hyperliquid had zero VC allocation, and the Hyper Foundation says most vesting completes between 2027 and 2028. So the November 6 date is one more step on a long schedule, not a cliff.

What the calendar does not tell you is how much the team will claim. Tokenomist separates the whitepaper estimate from the committed claim and the completed on-chain transfer, and those three numbers have rarely matched.

What the Team Actually Claimed Each Month

The claim history is far smaller than the schedule. According to Tokenomist, the team claimed 1,745,746 HYPE in November 2025, 1,125,766 in January 2026, 140,333 in February, 173,217 in March, and committed roughly 330,000 for April. That is 17.6% of the projected amount in the first month and under 2% in February and March.

As of March 23, Tokenomist counted 405.41 million HYPE unlocked against about 3.19 million claimed, a claim rate of roughly 0.79%. The rest sat unclaimed in vesting wallets. Even after the April claim, Tokenomist estimated about 3.52 million HYPE claimed against roughly 415.33 million unlocked, a claim rate near 0.85%. The research team said the projected figure had overstated supply pressure by roughly 30 to 57 times across the months it tracked.

The sources reviewed for this piece do not give claim figures for May through September, so there is a gap in the public record between April and October. The October event is the one that changed the pattern.

October Broke the Pattern: 3.75 Million HYPE to One OTC Buyer

For the October 6 unlock, Hyperliquid Labs committed to claim 3.75 million HYPE, valued at $336.75 million, Tokenomist's weekly digest reported. Co-founder iliensinc said on Discord that the full batch was being sold over the counter to a single institutional buyer. The buyer, price and any lock-up were not disclosed.

FinanceFeeds put the batch at about 38% of the scheduled 9.9 million and valued it near $329 million at the $87.70 price when the unstaking surfaced. The key line from that report: Hyperliquid Labs "does not intend to sell the tokens through public order books."

Two things follow. First, 3.75 million is more than ten times the April commitment, so the team's appetite to realize value has clearly increased. Second, an OTC sale moves supply off the order book on day one, but the buyer can still distribute later. Tokenomist flagged exactly that: tokens could still reach exchanges, settlement was expected after October 7, and on-chain flows from that point would be the clearest signal of what the buyer intends.

HYPE Is Taking This Unlock From a Weaker Spot

The market context is worse than in early October. HYPE traded at $92.60 on October 6, The Crypto Times reported. By October 25 it sat around $75.47, down about 18.87% over the month and 3.65% over seven days, per crypto.news. Bitcoin.com puts HYPE about 22% below its September record near $98.

Derivatives positioning is cooling rather than building. Crypto.news, citing CoinGlass, shows HYPE futures open interest at about $3.07 billion, down 0.52%, with futures volume of $1.40 billion, down 15.16%. CoinGlass also logged net spot outflows of about $2.47 million from centralized exchanges on October 25.

The buyback is the counterweight. The Assistance Fund had spent $1.36 billion buying HYPE by October 13 and accumulated more than 48 million tokens, crypto.news reported. But scale matters: in the week before the October unlock, buybacks totaled $11.81 million, about 3.5% of that unlock's dollar value, according to Tokenomist. If November's claim lands anywhere near October's size, one week of buybacks will not absorb it.

How to Trade the November 6 HYPE Unlock With Orderflow

The first signal comes before the date. Hyperliquid's staking-to-spot queue takes seven days, and October's unstaking started around September 30 to October 1 for an October 6 unlock, FinanceFeeds noted. If the team follows the same path, an unstake from the contributor wallets around October 30 would be the earliest read on size.

The second signal is the announcement. Tokenomist said the team typically announces its claim around the 6th. A number closer to April's 330,000 means the 9.92 million headline is noise. A number at or above October's 3.75 million, with no OTC buyer named, means supply could hit the book.

The third signal is the tape after settlement. Watch for persistent negative CVD on HYPE spot while perp open interest climbs, a pattern consistent with spot supply being distributed while someone hedges or shorts on perps. On Buildix, the HYPE pair page shows CVD, order book imbalance and whale activity side by side, so a large distributor shows up in the flow before it shows up in the candle.

The calendar says 9.92 million. The tokens that matter are the ones that leave the unstaking queue and reach an order book, and if October's pattern repeats, that number will be visible days before November 6.
