Hyperliquid RWA Perps Market Share Falls to 26% as Binance Takes 30% — Published by Buildix, a crypto orderflow analytics platform with real-time VPIN, CVD and whale tracking on the 100 most liquid Hyperliquid pairs.

Hyperliquid RWA perps no longer own their category. Artemis data shared by Ark Invest's head of digital asset research Lorenzo Valente shows trade.xyz, the largest HIP-3 deployer on Hyperliquid, falling from about 80% of RWA perpetual volume in July to 26% now, while centralized exchanges together hold 64%, according to FXStreet.

The same day, Hyperliquid said its next network upgrade will change how HIP-3 volume counts toward L1 rate limits, and a cluster of accounts added $39 million of long exposure to stock-linked contracts during a tech selloff. For anyone reading orderflow on equity perps, the question is no longer whether Hyperliquid has the volume. It is whether the Hyperliquid book is still where price gets discovered.

Hyperliquid RWA Perps Market Share: From 80% to 26%

The share shift is fast. Per the Artemis figures cited by FXStreet, Binance went from 3% to 30% of RWA perp volume in two weeks, and OKX reached 14% over the same window. Gate and Bitget are also growing, with no figures given.

The market did not shrink to produce that result. Weekly RWA perp volume rose from about $20 billion to between $40 billion and $60 billion over the period, per the same report. Most of the new activity printed on centralized venues rather than moving away from Hyperliquid, which is a different problem from losing existing users.

The products explain part of it. Binance launched TradFi perpetuals in March covering gold, silver, selected stocks such as Tesla and Intel, and ETFs, all settled in USDT and trading around the clock. OKX added more than 40 tokenized US stocks and ETFs in July, also traded 24/7 against USDT in supported regions, according to FXStreet. A trader who already holds USDT margin on Binance now has no reason to bridge to Hyperliquid for a Tesla perp.

HIP-3 Equity Perps Still Printed $201 Billion in Q3

Losing share is not the same as losing size. Hyperliquid recorded $201 billion of Q3 volume on perpetuals linked to stocks, ETFs and equity indexes, counting each matched trade once, per TokenPost. Total Hyperliquid perp volume over the last 30 days was $208.07 billion, according to FXStreet.

The internal mix tells the other half of the story. Alea Research's Q3 report, republished by TechFlow, shows trade.xyz's share of total Hyperliquid perp volume dropping from 51.5% in July to 35.5% in August and 23.9% in September. Part of that is crypto volume coming back after Bitcoin's August rally, which the same report credits with lifting blended fees.

Fees matter here. Alea notes that trade.xyz's Growth Mode subsidy kept its July blended fee at 0.74 bps, against 3.31 bps on Hyperliquid's core native markets. trade.xyz generated 97.9% of all HIP-3 fees in Q3, and HIP-3 traders paid $21.4 million in total, per TechFlow. Cheap fees helped build the July lead, and the CEX share data shows how quickly that lead can move.

The HIP-3 Rate Limit Change

On October 23, Hyperliquid News posted: "On the next network upgrade, HIP-3 volume's contribution toward L1 user rate limits will be scaled by the total fee," as republished by KuCoin. TokenPost reports that this counts the full fee generated by HIP-3 trading instead of only the protocol's share, roughly doubling the contribution for most HIP-3 markets. Fee rates and fee tier calculations stay the same, and no upgrade date was given.

The practical effect lands on the most active addresses. Market makers and high-frequency traders who quote HIP-3 books spend their L1 action budget on orders and cancels. If each dollar of HIP-3 volume earns roughly twice the allowance it does today, quoting those books becomes less constrained, which should help depth and spreads on equity and commodity perps.

That is the lever Hyperliquid controls. It cannot match Binance's USDT user base, but it can make its own books tighter. Watch top-of-book depth on the larger HIP-3 markets in the days after the upgrade ships: if spreads narrow and resting size grows, the change worked.

47 Accounts Bought the Tech Dip on Hyperliquid

Positioning moved during the same window. TokenPost reported on October 23 that 47 Hyperliquid accounts opened or added a combined $39 million of long exposure to HIP-3 contracts tied to US stocks, with new exposure on each asset above $500,000. The report does not name the stocks or the data source, and does not give account level size.

The timing lines up with the cash market. Yahoo Finance's October 22 live coverage carried the headline that the S&P 500 and Nasdaq tanked as tech stocks sank on AI trade worries, with Meta shares plunging. Large accounts using a 24/7 perp to buy weakness outside regular hours is exactly the use case HIP-3 was built for.

For orderflow, the useful question is where that flow prints first. When a selloff hits after the cash close, the perp that leads is the one with the deepest book. If Binance now carries 30% of RWA perp volume and trade.xyz 26%, a large market buy on Hyperliquid may follow a move that already started on Binance rather than set it.

Reading Stock Perp Orderflow Across Venues

Three signals help separate real conviction from echo trades. First, compare Hyperliquid CVD on a stock perp with the price path on the CEX version of the same contract: if Hyperliquid CVD turns up only after the CEX price has moved, the Hyperliquid buyers are followers. Second, track open interest on the HIP-3 market through the move. New longs with rising OI are fresh risk, while rising price on falling OI is shorts closing.

Third, watch the basis between venues during weekends and after the cash close. With two or more 24/7 books on the same underlying, a widening gap is the clearest sign that one venue is absorbing flow the other is not. The gap usually closes toward the deeper book.

Buildix covers Hyperliquid perps including HIP-3 markets, so CVD, open interest and whale activity on stock-linked contracts sit next to the crypto pairs in the screener, and the wallet tracker shows which large accounts are adding size. Earlier coverage of the equity side is in Hyperliquid Tokenized Stocks.

Hyperliquid built the market for onchain stock perps. Binance and OKX are now taking the growth, and the rate limit change is one lever Hyperliquid can pull directly. The next few weeks of HIP-3 depth and cross venue basis will show whether the Hyperliquid book keeps setting the price or starts copying it.
